The Metropolitan Police is facing the
first stage of prosecution for the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes.
The 27-year-old Brazilian was shot seven times after he was mistaken for a suspected suicide bomber. The Crown Prosecution Service last month said there was insufficient evidence to charge individual officers. The charges, under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, are being heard at City of Westminster Magistrates in central London. The Met is accused of breaching its duties owed to non-employees over the shooting at Stockwell Tube station on July 22 2005. Monday's hearing is the first stage of what is expected to be a lengthy trial, in which senior officers are likely to be called as witnesses. -------------------------------------------------------------- INFOWARS: BECAUSE THERE'S A WAR ON FOR YOUR MIND
