Pakistan's military has successfully test-fired
a new medium-range cruise missile capable of carrying nuclear
warheads, officials say.
Pakistan, a nuclear-armed state, said on Tuesday that the locally-developed
missile, named Hatf-7 (or Babur) has a range of 700km and was
successfully tested.
"The Babur, which has near stealth capabilities, is a low-flying,
terrain-hugging missile with high maneuverability, pinpoint accuracy
and radar-avoidance features," Defense Ministry spokesman
said.
The test was witnessed by the Gen. Tariq Majid, the Chairman
of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, senior military officers,
scientists and engineers.

President Pervez Musharraf congratulated the scientists and engineers
and "assured them of their complete support in the development
plans of all strategic projects".
Pakistan and its neighbor India, both nuclear powers, routinely
carry out missile tests.
