Iraqi Police has placed three southern Iraqi cities of Kut,
Nasiriyah and Samawa under curfew amid unrest and clashes in the
country.
The curfews in Kut and Samawa are indefinite while Nasiriyah's
restrictions apply between 2:00 pm (1100 GMT) on Tuesday and 7:00
am (0400 GMT) Wednesday, security officials told AFP.
The curfew in Kut was imposed after clashes in the city, while
in Samawa and Nasiriyah it was a "precautionary" step,
a security official said.

On Tuesday clashes erupted between Iraqi security forces and
alleged Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army gunmen in southern Iraq,
leaving at least 4 people dead. The unrest broke out amid a crackdown
on armed Iraqi groups by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government.
