A new opinion poll suggests the US and Kurdish groups' support
for the PKK is the reason behind a possible Turkish incursion
into Iraq.
The Press TV online poll indicates that a significant majority
of people (64.47%) believe that the US and some Kurdish groups'
support for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is the
main reason that may provoke a Turkish military action against
northern Iraq.
Meanwhile, 24.36% of the respondents blamed the failure of the
Iraqi government in establishing security in northern Iraq for
any possible incursion into the territory.

Nearly 11% of the participants in the opinion poll cited territorial
claims on parts of Iraq as the main factor that might trigger
a military action by Turkey against northern Iraq.
About 2790 people took part in the survey which was conducted
from October 31, 2007 to November 10, 2007.
Turkey has massed up to 100,000 troops along its borders with
Iraq amid speculations that the second largest NATO army may launch
a cross-border operation to crush PKK militants based in northern
Iraq.
