THE paramedic who drove the dying Princess Diana to hospital
stopped his vehicle for five minutes and drove slowly on purpose,
the inquest into her death heard today.
Allegations of a conspiracy to kill the Princess emerged this
afternoon as it was revealed the ambulance’s journey was
deliberately prolonged - despite having a police escort.
Coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker told the court at the start
of the case that questions had also been raised over why the Princess
was treated by a doctor at the crash site for 40 minutes, rather
than being rushed straight to hospital.
There was further confusion as to why she was not treated at
the Hotel-Dieu which the ambulance passed en-route to the hospital
where she eventually died.

Ambulance driver Michel Massebeuf explained that hospital staff
at the Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital were on hand to receive the
dying Princess and that he could not set off from the scene until
her condition had stabilised.
“Although I cannot say exactly when, we knew from very
early on that there was a place available at the Pitie-Salpetriere
Hospital, and that as soon as the patient’s condition allowed,
I should make my way to that hospital,” he said.
On-board doctor Jean-Marc Martino - who treated Diana at the
crash scene for almost 40 minutes before the ambulance finally
set off - instructed the driver to go slowly because of Diana’s
injuries, jurors heard today.
