Nicolas Sarkozy is to hold crisis talks with ministers
after three nights of rioting in Paris has left cars and buildings
burnt and more than 120 police officers injured.
The French president vowed that those responsible for violence
against officers would be brought to justice.
Police warned they were dealing with "urban guerrillas"
with guns after rioting which began in suburbs north of the capital
spread to other parts of the country following the deaths of two
teenagers in Paris in a crash with a police car.
Fears that violence could erupt in other parts of France were
realised last night as unrest hit the southern town of Toulouse.
A fire broke out at a library in the Reynerie neighbourhood of
Toulouse and about a dozen cars were set on fire.

In Paris a number of cars were set alight but officials said
that violence did not reach the same level of intensity as the
two previous nights.
Michele Alliot-Marie, the interior minister, described the overall
situation as "calm" and said the heavy police presence
on the streets would remain "as long as necessary".
She said that last night 39 arrests were made.
Most of the injuries to police officers happened on Sunday and
Monday night, as rioters threw stones, set fire to buildings and
in some cases opened fire on police.
